YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles)
I've been part of the YOLA program for about 7 years now and this is a picture from when we performed at Walt Disney Concert Hall. The program is divided into 3 groups, EYE(Expo Young Ensemble), ECYO(Expo Center Youth Orchestra), And CHO(Chamber Orchestra). I belong to CHO which is the most advanced one. We've performed at big places such as the Skirball, The Hollywood Bowl, and Walt Disney Concert Hall several times.
Yola Side by Side with LA Phil
Our most recent performance was September 29, 2013 at Walt Disney. We were side by side with the LA Philharmonic. The LA Phillharmonic, also know as LA Phil, is the most astonishing orchestra in the city of Los Angeles (in my opinion)! We perfomed two pieces, conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. We played Tchaikovsky's Smphony No.2 Movement 4 and Arturo Marquez's Conga del Fuego Nuevo . It was a really great experience being able to perform and rehearse with them. They are very inspiring and outstanding musicians. In the picture, Im wearing a white YOLA shirt , while the LA Phil members wore black YOLA shirts. Also, this picture was took after our performance. I really enjoyed myself and im greatfull to be in such a wonderful program.
Hollywood Bowl 2012
On the dates of August 17&18, 2012, I had the wonderful oppurtunity to perform at The Hollywood Bowl. In the picture, I am the first girl (from left to right). If you can see, the boy in the center is wearing a Juanes shirt. Juanes is a famous columbian singer, and we had the greatest opportunity to share the stage with him! If you dont know, The Hollywood Bowl can fit up to 18,000 people! and guess what? It was SOLD OUT!! Of course that put alot of pressure on our orchestra but we all agreed to have fun! And it was awesome because we actually did have fun!
